Dear John,
I'd like to tell you the story of Kerry McBride and her son Michael.
Michael went from being a loving and dedicated college student to being delusional
and homeless in just three years. Kerry did everything she could to get Michael
the treatment that he needed - but the system stood in her way.

Michael's paranoid schizophrenia prevented him from understanding he needed care.
The system allowed him to spiral down, telling her he wasn't dangerous so there
was nothing they could do. Eventually Michael disappeared. Kerry found him psychotic
in a local homeless shelter. It was winter and she felt utterly helpless.
This is where the Treatment Advocacy Center came in...
Kerry was able to use our educational resources to get Michael hospitalized. After
180 days of inpatient treatment, she explained,
"the light switch went on."Michael was able to move through his delusions and regain
insight.
Today, I ask you to support this important work and make a donation of $25, $50
or $100 to help families just like Kerry's.
Like many family members, Kerry found us during a time of crisis. We are proud of
the support our research and advocacy provides to families like hers every day.
We are also proud to be only organization dedicated to eliminating barriers to treatment
for people with severe mental illness.
Kerry's story illustrates just how important the Treatment Advocacy Center's work
is, and why we need your partnership to help even more families in crisis.
