Dear John,

I started my caregiving journey in 2013, when my mother was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. I left my job to take care of her, and immediately was thrown into navigating an inaccessible system of care with no idea where to turn. Care felt like an individual responsibility I had to shoulder on my own.

Thankfully, when I was invited to become a Care Fellow in 2019, I began to feel like I wasn’t alone. It felt like a breath of fresh air that an organization like Caring Across existed to transform our broken care systems and that I could play an integral role in that transformation.

With just three days left in the Caregivers are Changemakers fundraising campaign, I’m hoping you can donate today and help advance a vision of care that works for us all. [[link removed]]

When I first started caregiving for my mom, it was so difficult to figure out how to access any support or resources. Then, once my father and I figured it out, it still took three years of waiting to actually get in-home care services for her.

More recently, I’ve started caring for my father, an Air Force Veteran and multiple stroke survivor. Despite the fact that he could benefit from in-home care, he’s not eligible for Medicaid home care under current Georgia guidelines. And he’s not alone. Eligibility rules leave people out all over the country.

At every step of the way, accessing care has been a frustrating and isolating experience, but the Caring Across Care Fellowship changed my life. It helped me learn about care policies, expand my storytelling skills, and connect with people around the country who share lived experiences.

Could you chip in just $10 to train another 80 Care Fellows like myself? [[link removed]]

In a true full-circle moment, in 2021, I joined the Caring Across staff and now help equip new cohorts of Care Fellows with the tools they need to advocate for themselves. Every day, I get to support our fellows in channeling their own power to change the face of care in this country.

This year, we’re expanding the Care Fellowship program, on the national level and in states.

Will you help us support even more fellows – caregivers, people with disabilities, and older adults – in joining us, sharing experiences, building skills, and advocating for the caring future we all need?

There are just three days left to support our new class of fellows through our Caregivers are Changemakers fundraising campaign. Please help us reach our goal with a gift of $10 today. [[link removed]]
