DEBATE: Farmfest Recap

On Wednesday, the Governor attended his 17th Farmfest and participated in the gubernatorial candidate forum. He delivered a commanding performance that highlighted his long record of delivering for Minnesota’s farmers and proved that he is always fighting for Minnesota’s agricultural community.

Shakopee Small Business Meeting
Last Friday, the Lt. Governor convened a lunch with Latino small business owners in Shakopee. It was an inspiring conversation about the impact small businesses have on the local economy, but also the responsibility they have to their employees to remain afloat. 

Enrique, the Flor de Jalisco owner said, “Everyday we open, we don’t just open because it’s our business, we open because we know that our employees have bills to pay and families to feed.”

Red Oak Park Walkthrough
Lt. Governor Flanagan joined Sen. Lindsey Port, Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz, and city officials for a tour of Red Oak Park’s inclusive playground. Her visit highlighted the importance of ensuring accessibility in all spaces, for all ages. The Lt. Governor and Sen. Port discussed the increased funding needed to build these playgrounds, and with Mayor Kautz the importance of partnering with local governments to ensure public spaces are designed to be fully inclusive. She finished the visit off by playing a round of Bankshot, a self-competitive accessible basketball course!

Burnsville Fire Station Tour

We next traveled to the Burnsville Fire Station for a tour of the new facility by Chief BJ Jungmann. The new station, opened in May of this year, prioritizes the mental and physical health of its firefighters and features several state-of-the-art meditation areas and anti-cancer measures. The Lieutenant Governor was joined on this visit by Burnsville Representatives Kaela Berg and Jess Hanson, Senator Lindsey Port, Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz and Scott Vadnais from the Minnesota Union of Professional Fire Fighters (IAFF) among members of the station.
