“As parties to the NPT, it is your job to condemn this and all nuclear threats, and to make sure it never happens again. Otherwise, what is the point of this conference?”

Dear Friend --

A few minutes ago, the delegations gathered at the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference at the UN heard from a powerful young voice: Yelyzaveta Khodorovska.

Yelyzaveta, or Liza, is a young Ukrainian student who is actively engaged in nuclear issues. She delivered ICAN's statement to the NPT <[link removed]>where states are reviewing the progress of states to contain the spread of nuclear weapons, disarm and come to an agreement on a plan for the future implementation of the treaty.

Liza's message was an urgent reminder that the nuclear weapons and deterrence policies states parties discuss, and the decisions they take or do not take in this room have real consequences.

You can read Liza's full statement here <[link removed]>, or watch her powerful delivery:

Liza travelled to New York to tell the world’s governments her experience of the true cost of nuclear weapons. Please help us share her heartfelt and powerful call for action at the NPT Review Conference, support for the TPNW, and her call for an end to nuclear weapons.

Thank you,

Beatrice Fihn
