Friend,
Today marks my first year as Executive Director for Community Justice, and I just wanted to send a quick note to thank you for your continued support of our efforts to end gun violence in Black and Brown communities.
As a survivor of gun violence taking on such a critical issue, I recognize the stakes of our work and appreciate how many people like you are in our corner.
Over the past six years as an organization and more recently since the pandemic, we have seen gun violence rise to historic levels, but together we have made major strides. We have been committed to changing the narrative, advancing bold policies, and building political power for those suffering most from gun violence. In the past year alone we have accomplished so much with your help, including:
- Successfully Advocating for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the First Gun Violence Bill Signed Into Law In Nearly 30 Years
- Securing Over $14 BILLION To Fund Community Violence Intervention Efforts
-
Growing Our State Advocacy Team to Now Work In 10 States To Address Violence Locally
- Doubling Our Online Supporters To Take Action and Donate To Our Cause
- Partnering with Over 300 Organizations To Join Our Movement
-
Supporting the Communities of Buffalo and Uvalde On the Ground
- Testifying before Congress After Devastating Mass Shootings in Buffalo & Uvalde
-
Our Work Has Helped Shape the Narrative in Time Magazine, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and an HBO Documentary
- Being Honored by President Biden for Courage As A Survivor Advocate

In this first year as Executive Director, I’ve been able to lead our team to accomplish so much in our effort to end gun violence, but it wouldn’t be possible without the support of survivors, community leaders, activists, elected officials, front-line workers, our staff and steadfast supporters like you.
