The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
Even though the House was not in session, it was still a busy week. From countering the Democrats’ bloated Inflation Reduction Act to hosting my monthly virtual tele-townhall, I hope you’ll read below to learn about the important happenings from the week:
Countering the Democrats’ Bloated Inflation Reduction Act
Last week, Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), unveiled the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act--a colossal piece of legislation they claim will reduce our nation’s historic inflation and spiraling economy. The main problem is it does not achieve this at all. This legislation--endorsed by President Joe Biden--raises taxes, spends more money we don’t have, and hurts most Americans.
There are a number of egregious elements in this bill. Analysis from the Penn Wharton Budget Model concludes that the legislation’s “impact on inflation is statistically indistinguishable from zero." The Joint Committee on Taxation finds that it raises taxes on middle-class workers by $16.7 billion over a decade. That is unacceptable.
Other provisions of the bill worsen American healthcare, spend money on woke climate programs, and punish American manufacturers.
If the bill comes to the House, I will vote NO on this monstrosity.
Virtual Tele-Townhall Returns
This week, I held my virtual tele-townhall. Arizonans from the Fifth Congressional District asked me questions on a range of issues and answered poll questions on the state of our economy under President Biden, whether America needs to prioritize climate change more, and the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccine mandates. Our next one is scheduled for Thursday, September 8 at 5:30 pm MST. Hope to see you then.

Definition of the Week
For years, the Biden family has cozied up to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This relationship arguably has influenced the CCP’s aggressiveness in the South China Sea and towards Taiwan--an American friend that Nancy Pelosi visited this week. It’s important to remember that the CCP is not America’s friend and should be considered our greatest foreign threat. The CCP frequently carries out cyberattacks and espionage on the United States, does not share the democratic or free market values of the United States, and continues to exert influence and aggressively claim sovereignty over Taiwan.
Inspired by the Biden family and administration’s false narrative, here’s the definition of the week:
Chinese Communist Party (NOUN): America’s greatest foreign threat.
