Hi.

It’s official – I’m the Democratic nominee for Governor of Maryland.

In a moment, I’m going to tell you about why I’m running to flip Maryland blue for the first time in eight years, but if you don’t have time to read more, please split a donation between my campaign and the Democratic Governors Association right now.

John, when I led soldiers into combat in Afghanistan, we lived by one guiding principle: leave no one behind.

That same principle drives me and is at the heart of this campaign.

After eight years under the leadership of a Republican governor who too often met the concerns of Maryland families who struggled to put food on the table with negligence, Marylanders feel left behind.

I know what that kind of despair and loss can do to a person. When I was three years old, I watched my father die of a rare but treatable virus. And by eleven, I’d felt the weight of handcuffs on my wrists. My life could have gone a very different way, but I was lucky.

Not everyone is.

So many Marylanders stand on the fragile line between poverty and economic prosperity. Unable to fill the gas tank or keep up with monthly bills. Feeling unsafe in their own communities. And trapped in schools that are unprepared to help students secure the jobs of today or tomorrow.

I’m running for governor because I believe no matter where you start, we all deserve an equal opportunity to succeed. And in our administration, we will leave no one behind. If you believe in that vision, please chip in $3 – or whatever you can – to be split between my campaign and the DGA to elect Democratic governors, stop Trump Republicans, and build a state that leaves no one behind.

Rush $3

While I’m focusing on the needs of the people of Maryland, my opponent has been focused on how best to integrate himself into Trump’s inner circle.

Dan Cox pledged his unwavering alliance to Donald Trump. He’s associated himself with QAnon and other far-right extremist groups. He personally organized buses of insurrectionists to the U.S. Capitol on January 6. And on top of all that, he’s an extreme anti-abortion Republican who fought to overturn the 2020 election. Dan Cox is so far outside the mainstream that I truly believe he’d be dangerous in the governors’ office.

The stakes are too high not to get involved.

And this fight isn’t happening alone. My race is only one of the 36 governorships up for grabs in November, and with Democrats in swing states like Michigan and Wisconsin serving as the last line of defense against Republican attacks on our freedom, we cannot afford to lose a single one. The DGA is working tirelessly to elect Democratic governors nationwide, and – like me – they need your help.

So I’m asking, can I count on you to make an investment in this fight? Your contribution split between my campaign and the DGA will be put immediately to work.

Thank you for standing with me. It means so much to have your support.

Elevate,
