Dear John,

When I ran for Congress, I pledged to be an independent voice for all Minnesotans, regardless of their political affiliation. Because, in Congress, my responsibility is to listen to everyone and to work on commonsense solutions that move our communities forward. Reaching across the aisle is incredibly important to me – because I believe Congress can only work for the American people when we’re working together.

Since arriving in Washington, I’ve worked to live up to that promise by consistently doing so. I was recently ranked in the top 15 percent most bipartisan Members of Congress. I am also deeply proud of the fact that 80 percent of the bills that I have sponsored and cosponsored have bipartisan support. Because the majority of my bills had support from both parties, many of them have passed through the House – including the recent Public Safety Officer Support Act, which is set to be signed by the President soon.

At the end of the day, I don’t think either party has all the answers, so I will keep reaching across the aisle to work for folks in the Second District!

Here are some of the other highlights from this week:

Connecting my Office, Public Safety and the Community
National Night Out officially returned to #MN02 this week! So happy members of my district staff were able to join our local law enforcement officers and neighbors at these wonderful community-building events around our district.

Fighting to Lower the Cost of Prescription Drugs

Everyone should be able to afford their medication – but, in the U.S., this isn’t always the case. I am proud the Inflation Reduction Act framework includes my bill to cap the out-of-pocket cost of insulin at $35/month, a critical step toward ensuring access to this life-sustaining drug.

Applauding Victories for Reproductive Rights

This week, our friends in the Sunflower State said loud and clear that they want the freedom to make their own health care decisions. As a Member of Congress, I will always fight to codify Roe and keep politicians and government out of these decisions.

Behind the Scenes with Rep. Craig:

I’m always happy to take you behind the scenes from Minnesota - this week especially! This week I got to be with my entire family, including my grandson, Noah. It was so nice to be able to spend time with him and enjoy one of our favorite places – the Minnesota Zoo – in Apple Valley!

I hope you all are enjoying the start of August, as much as I am. Who doesn’t love Minnesota summers?

Until next time,
