John –
We need leaders who can work together to make our communities safer and our justice system more fair. The County Attorney must work with police, community members and local agencies to build a stronger public safety system and get rising crime under control.
Just yesterday, gunfire exploded at the Mall of America. No victims have been located and the suspect is still on the run.
Earlier this week, we learned of a 15-year-old who was tragically murdered at Nicollet Mall by another youth. That same day, we saw gunfire in multiple parts of Minneapolis. It's difficult to see young people throwing their lives away over issues that could be disputed verbally rather than violently. It is just way too easy to get a gun.
"How did we get here?" is not the question we should be asking. "Where do we go from here?" is the only question that counts.
Right now, our top priority must be getting violent crime under control. As County Attorney, I will work with the police to stop violence. We will not be successful in stopping the rising crime we're seeing in neighborhoods each day without working with leaders across the county.
That coalition of leaders must include council members, mayors, police chiefs, community members and state legislators. That is why so many of them are supporting my campaign.
I've made it my mission to build partnerships across the state and unite diverse coalitions as Majority Leader and that’s exactly what I'm going to do to build a stronger public safety system as your next County Attorney.
If that is the kind of leadership you're looking for, join us at one of our door knocks this weekend to help get voters out to the polls!
Sincerely,
Ryan
