| Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean Women Committee Meeting On July 13th, Loredana Teodorescu, President of WIIS Italy and Head of the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network Secretariat, spoke as rapporteur at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean Women Committee Meeting. It was a critical moment to discuss the role of women in social and armed conflicts and the need to involve them in the different stages of peace processes. Members from 14 countries and international experts joined the event. Among these members included Ouided Bouchamaoui, a former member of the National Dialogue Quartet and co-laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2015, and Irene Fellin, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security and Honorary President of WIIS Italy. | | | | Loredana also made a very special visit to WIIS Global headquarters in Washington, D.C., where she met with Ariela Blätter, President and CEO of WIIS Global, and the WIIS Team. | | | Vignettes of Resistance: En-Gendering the Worlds of Labour On July 29th, WISCOMP (WIIS India) hosted Vignettes of Resistance: En-Gendering the Worlds of Labor, the inaugural event in The Book Cafe Series. This virtual dialogue brought together university students, young researchers, academics, and grassroots practitioners in an interactive space to better explore women’s work through an intersectional lens. | | | WIIS Brussels Voices: Climate Security Miniseries In their new podcast miniseries, WIIS Talks Climate Security, produced with the support of the United States Mission to NATO, WIIS Brussels invites women to share their experience and expertise on the multi-dimension of climate security. In this episode, hosts Sabrine Dao and Sofiia Shevchuk welcome Elizabeth Smith, Research Assistant with the SIPRI Climate Change and Risk Programme, Madeline Babin, Research Associate for Climate Change Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations, and Laura Basagni, Mediterranean Program Manager at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Together they discuss holistic views of climate security and the need for including diverse voices in combatting this global security threat. | | |
