John, I hope you don’t mind a few nautical puns.

I’m reaching out because my friend, Admiral Mike Franken, needs all hands on deck.

Let me explain: Mike and I both spent decades in the Navy, defending our country. And now, we’re both running in ultra-competitive battleground races. His is for Senate against Republican Chuck Grassley in Iowa, and mine is a must-win House race.

You could say we’re in the same boat.

But right now, that boat is being flooded with right-wing super PAC money, so I have to ask: Can you throw us a life vest, and split a $25 contribution between our campaigns so we can protect our Democratic majorities in the House and Senate?

Make no mistake: the threat level against our democracy is high. If we abandon ship now and hand Congress to the far right, we’ll see that the extremist attack on our democracy was just a practice run.

For me, for Mike, for all of us, it’s sink or swim. If we don’t have the resources to fight back now, we’ll be drowned out in dark money spending.

I know that Democrats CAN win in Virginia, Iowa, and everywhere else, because we’ve got you, John. Will you come on board and split a donation of $25 to help us turn the tide in November and protect our Democratic House and Senate majorities?
