Folks, I have some exciting news to share.

Last month, I introduced the Black Belt National Heritage Area Act in the House. This historic bill would preserve the history of Alabama’s Black Belt while bringing new opportunities to boost our state's economy and even protect wildlife.

I’m proud to say that this legislation passed the House with overwhelming support, but now it’s up to the Senate to help make history. Will you sign my petition and let the Senate know that America’s Black Belt must be preserved? [[link removed]]

As a daughter of Alabama’s Black Belt, I’m thrilled to take every possible opportunity to preserve the history of my hometown. This place, home of the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge where Congressman John Lewis and so many of my mentors marched, birthed a movement for civil rights and equality under the law. I can confidently say that this nation would not be what it is today without our community here in Alabama’s 7th District.

Our stories are worth telling. Can I count on you to sign my petition and let the Senate know it’s time to finally recognize the impact of Alabama’s Black Belt? [[link removed]]
