John,
Last week, I sat in front of the House Oversight Committee to convince them of one simple truth: The gun industry is not above the law.
The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) is an unparalleled gun industry protection law whose interpretation has been used to shield negligent gun dealers, distributors, and makers from civil lawsuits. It’s unjust, plain and simple, friend, and Congress has an opportunity to repeal this law and finally give gun violence survivors a path to justice.
If Congress passes the bill to repeal PLCAA, gunmakers and sellers will no longer have the veneer of special protections. Courts will treat the gun industry the same way they treat every other industry and negligent gunmakers will be pushed to reform how they manufacture, sell, and market firearms. These changes will save lives and it’s of the utmost importance that Congress takes action.
Unsurprisingly, the NRA is doing everything in their power to protect gun lobby profits, defeat this legislation, and deny victims of gun violence access to justice. And we need your help to fight back. Will you send a message to your representative right now and urge them to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce of Arms Act? >>

Thank you for joining me in this fight. With your support, I know that we can finally achieve equal access to justice for survivors and spur industry changes that will prevent gun violence before it starts.
