'Climate Revolution' Youth Summit at the RDS
Ireland must do better in its attempts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and young activists have a vital role in making this happen. That’s according to young people attending the NYCI/Concern ‘Climate Revolution’ Youth Summit in the RDS in Dublin last week. Over 400 young people from around Ireland met to share their ideas and be inspired by learning what other youth activists from Cork to Kenya have been involved in. ‘Young People, Youth Workers and Consent’ - let us know your thoughts
NYCI's National Youth Health Programme, with support from the School of Psychology in NUI Galway, is developing training on consent to support youth workers and volunteers to incorporate consent into their work with young people. In order to create a training that is relevant and useful, we are eager to hear your thoughts, so please complete this survey and make sure your point of view is heard. Survey closes soon!

Youth Application to Attend EU Youth Conference in Croatia
Young Voices in Ireland, is part of Europe-wide process called EU Youth Dialogue that gives young people a chance to have their say about decisions affecting their lives. Young Voices aims to give young people aged 15-30 the opportunity to influence decision makers and policy makers on the themes selected for the Youth Dialogue cycle. Apply here >>

Going International with Young People from Diverse Cultural Backgrounds
Léargas is seeking four youth workers from Ireland to attend an exciting international training opportunity in Brussels next March. This seminar will bring together 24 youth workers to share knowledge, expertise, and experience in working directly with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds and support them in using European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ Youth in Action as a tool. Grants available for the Irish Youth Foundation
Vhi, in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation, is providing €25,000 to fund five not-for-profit voluntary and charitable organisations supporting children and young people living in disadvantaged circumstances. The grant will be used to organise a Run 4 Fun programme within the organisation - a health and well-being programme that encourages young people to engage with their fitness and nutrition. Reviving an Ancient Tradition to Engage Young Men - An Irish Rites of Passage Process
In traditional societies, boys grew up under the guidance of ‘elders’ (men who mentor and advise), who guided them through the journey to manhood. This workshop emanates from recent research carried out by Michael Kelly re. young Irish men’s journey to manhood, exploring aspects of Irish indigenous wisdom and its place in a contemporary rites-of-passage programme. The benefits of a Rites-of-Passage Programme (ROP) will be examined, and its ability to offer a pathway and structure for young rural Irish men towards a deeper maturity demonstrated. Book now >>
CPD Facilitating Groups living with Complex Disadvantage
The Adult Education Services of CDETB have organised two free tutor/facilitator CPD days on December 11 and 17. Their tutors have noted that they are increasingly working with learners who are facing significant challenges in their personal lives which is creating complex facilitation issues. Growing Up with Parental Alcohol Misuse: The Impact on Mental Health and Things That Can Help
Silent Voices, an Alcohol Action Ireland initiative to end the silence of the impact of parental alcohol misuse (PAM) in Ireland, is holding a joint lecture with Aware. It is estimated that there are around 200,000 children growing up in alcohol impacted families in Ireland and a further 400,000 adults living with the traumatic circumstances of a childhood arrested by alcohol related harms. This lecture in St Patrick's Hospital will explore the impacts of those harms and point towards some of the pathways to recovery and healing. Find out more >>
