1,327,847. That's the number of voters Country First reached in Michigan during our "Month of Action" ahead of the August 2nd primary election. In state House and Senate districts where a Republican is all but guaranteed to win in November, we focused our efforts on turning out Democrats, Independents, and disaffected Republicans to vote in the GOP primary to defeat Ultra MAGA candidates (many of whom were endorsed by Trump) who otherwise would have won.

And we were victorious in 9 out of 10 races!

Now you may be wondering, what does a congressman from Illinois care about Michigan? And the answer is simple: Michigan had become ground zero for Ultra MAGA's war on democracy, with a startling number of candidates who participated in January 6th. Their plan was to take over the state legislature and ensure Michigan's 2024 electoral college votes went to their preferred candidate.  And while those candidates and their supporters haven't gone anywhere, we know one thing: Democracy is a little safer now that they won't be on the ballot in November.

Now primary season is almost over, but Country First is just getting warmed up! We're taking the lessons we've learned from our bold Primary First strategy, and keeping the fight going into November. We'll be laying out our general election strategy soon (stay tuned!), but I'll just make one thing clear: Democracy must prevail.
