I am so proud to work alongside Ilhan. Ilhan carries her lived experiences with her every day into the halls of Congress. She is a refugee, former state legislator, and one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress. Together, Ilhan and I are pushing for critical progress and transformative change we can feel — including Medicare for All, student debt cancellation, environmental justice, and guaranteed housing for all.

Last year, I was honored to join Ilhan in Minnesota to call on the U.S. government to stop the construction of Line 3 to prevent further destruction of our climate and the violation of Indigenous treaties. And when Congress adjourned without extending the eviction moratorium last summer, Ilhan helped me lead a direct action on the Capitol steps to keep people housed.

In my primary election, Republican-backed groups spent hundreds of thousands of dollars attacking our people-powered movement for St. Louis. And last cycle, Republican donors poured millions of dollars into Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District to boost Ilhan's primary opponent. We need to ensure Ilhan has the resources to defend against any attacks coming her way.
