Dear Friend,
Mark your calendars for Courage California’s virtual fundraising event, “Courageous Voices, One Movement,” on September 14, 2022!
This year we are excited to welcome journalist/author/activist George M. Johnson, a bold and visionary storyteller, as our featured guest speaker.
George’s New York Times bestselling young adult Memoir, All Boys Aren’t Blue, is a powerful series of essays recounting their adolescence growing up as a young Black Queer boy in New Jersey. The book ranked number three on a list of the 10 Most Challenged Books of 2021 by the American Library Association and has been banned in almost 20 states.
Don’t miss your chance to hear George M. Johnson and support Courage California’s work.
We celebrate George M. Johnson for using their courageous voice to fight even harder to tell Black queer stories. George’s advocacy and organizing efforts against the banning of All Boys Aren’t Blue is reminiscent of Courage California’s roots in fighting Prop 8.
Their courage is a much needed reminder of the multi-front battle our progressive movement faces in countering disinformation, while continuing to expand rights and protections in California. We hope to see you there.
Reserve your tickets for the event now!
In solidarity,
