Today, Indivisible and the first prominent newspaper endorsement in Iowa
made big waves saying Elizabeth Warren is their top pick for the
Democratic nomination.

Indivisible released it’s 2020 Candidate Scorecard -- with Elizabeth
Warren topping the chart with a 95% score! ([ [link removed] ]Share the Indivisible

And, the Storm Lake Times -- an Iowa newspaper notably in the most
conservative part of the state -- endorsed Elizabeth Warren, going into
detail about “why she is our first choice among a marvelous field
approaching the Iowa Caucuses on Feb. 3.” ([ [link removed] ]Share the Storm Lake Times

People everywhere -- from Iowa and across the nation -- are seeing
Elizabeth Warren as strongest candidate to defeat Trump and champion a
progressive agenda that promises big, structural change.

Both The Storm Lake Times and Indivisible praised Warren for her work
building a powerful, expansive grassroots movement -- the kind that will
be needed to win in 2020 and to govern in 2021.

The Storm Lake Times opened their endorsement saying:

Elizabeth Warren spoke volumes to us when she launched her Presidential
campaign in January with a swing through Council Bluffs, Sioux City and
Storm Lake in Northwest Iowa, the most conservative and rural part of the
state, planting her flag and declaring that nobody will be left behind.

They were even more impressed when two months later, Warren returned “for
an Iowa Farmers Union forum on rural issues where she ruled the day among
five candidates.”

Indivisible also appreciated Warren’s focus on building grassroots power,
giving her a score of 97% -- the highest of any candidates. Indivisible
added:

Senator Warren received the top score in this section by investing in
progressive, grassroots activism in exciting new ways...Sen. Warren has
also led the field in making new commitments that center the grassroots --
such as rejecting super PACs and exclusive high-dollar fundraisers or
committing not to appoint donors to positions of power.

Senator Warren has also won the support of movement organizations in the
primary. And by supporting down-ballot candidates like Marie Newman and
Jessica Cisneros, she’s demonstrating real political courage while
fighting to make the Democratic Party a more progressive and inclusive
force in government.

Of course, grassroots engagement is just one part of the puzzle. Voters
need to know that the candidate will fight for THEM, and both The Storm
Lake Times and Indivisible praised Warren’s policy agenda.

The Storm Lake Times applauded many of Warren’s policies that show that
Warren can compete everywhere, and they agreed that “We need bold,
structural change.” In particular, the had words of praise for policies
that make Warren popular in rural and agricultural communities:

She pledged to enforce anti-trust laws and bust up the corporations that
have a chokehold on agriculture, have made farmers serfs on their own
land…

Warren developed the most extensive agenda for rural America…

Warren is charting a course that uses agriculture to lead the battle
against climate change…

She will pursue a trade agenda that enforces environmental and labor
protections. And she will not forget about rural hospitals, nursing homes
and mental health clinics being blown out by Wall Street investors…

She will end the terror on immigrants who make Storm Lake and Sioux City
home and rejuvenate rural communities…

While adding more detail on specific policies, Indivisible summarized:

Senator Elizabeth Warren has proposed a set of transformative progressive
policies as part of her platform. These include a people-first immigration
plan, Medicare For All, and bold action on climate, economic justice, and
civil rights. She received the second-highest score in the policy platform
section. Overall, she has a strong, progressive platform that would
advance Indivisibles’ top policy priorities.

Indivisible also gave Warren the top score out of all the candidates for
their "Day One Democracy Agenda" saying:

Senator Elizabeth Warren received the top score in this section as she has
proposed a set of transformative, structural reforms to our democracy that
would put power back into the hands of Americans. Those reforms include
support for DC statehood and court reform, in addition to support for
campaign finance reform, voting rights, and anti-corruption reforms. Sen.
Warren has also firmly committed to making her democracy agenda her top
legislative priority if elected. Sen. Warren supports eliminating the
filibuster in order to enact her progressive vision.

Many voters aren’t policy wonks. They gravitate to candidates that are
relatable. So it also was particularly poignant that the Storm Lake Times
addressed that head on in their endorsement.

When we have interviewed her, Warren comes across as a person of great
warmth, integrity and razor-sharp intellect. She is a Main Street
capitalist, not a Wall Street predator. She worked her way through college
as a single mother and rose to professor at Harvard Law School studying
why people go bankrupt -- primarily, over a rigged health care system that
puts profits first and leaves patients out. Every time we hear her speak,
we think, ‘You know, she’s right.’ The working class has been plundered.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told PCCC members, "The majority of Americans are with us on the policies. Americans support Medicare for All, expanding Social Security benefits, gun reform, debt-free college, and a $15 minimum wage. Bold progressive values are popular EVERYWHERE. Together, we have the people. Together, with your help, we’ll have the votes." Chip in $3 here: [link removed]
