Folks – I’m sure a lot of you are wondering about the status of our election, so I’m checking in with a quick update.
As of right now, only 58% of the vote has been counted. In Washington, where we vote entirely by mail, it’s common for the initial results to look misleading in favor of more conservative candidates. That’s because progressives and working people are usually the last ones to get their ballots in.
There are a lot of reasons for that. Many people are working multiple jobs trying to get by. They may not have access to transportation to get to a drop box, or they’re simply overwhelmed with day-to-day survival.
No matter the reason, we know the votes that come later skew towards progressive candidates like me, and we still have a solid chance to make the general election ballot.
While we’re waiting for ballots to be counted, I want to thank my incredible team for all the work they put into this campaign. I truly could not have done it without them.
