Hey there,
On Tuesday, Kansas was the first state in the nation to hold a referendum on the recent Supreme Court ruling. Even in Kansas, a reliably-Republican state, voters overwhelmingly voted against an anti-abortion measure.
Ohio has the opportunity to vote out a bunch of anti-choice Republicans this fall, and we need to make sure to have a high voter turnout to ensure we can hold onto our freedoms.
Since Roe was overturned, Ohio Republicans like Attorney General Yost and Governor DeWine have implemented and championed some of the most extreme anti-abortion laws in the country. DeWine even said he wants to "go as far as we can" to prohibit abortion.
Polling reveals that Ohioans want legal access to abortion services, yet Ohio Republicans like DeWine, Yost, and JD Vance want to take us backward. But anti-abortion measures are not only unpopular – they're dangerous.
Every pregnancy has the potential to be life-threatening, and laws like Ohio’s six-week abortion ban intrude on decisions that should be left to individuals and their physicians. Like Kansas, we can show up for and protect one another by standing together and remaining resilient in the face of injustice.
