John,

This week, I got quite a bit of interest in a Facebook post about a drug bust in Orland Park. The photo, posted below, is from a February 2022 case in which DEA Task Force Officers obtained information from an informant regarding a large amount of methamphetamine being transported through the area, related to the Sinaloa Cartel - a direct result of Biden’s border policies that Sean Casten supports. They coordinated a transaction through an undercover agent for February 14.2022. On this day, officers stopped this vehicle and recovered 48lbs of methamphetamine.

I was really pleased that so many people from all walks of life expressed their support for the great work of our law enforcement officers.

The reality is everyone wants to be kept safe. No one wants their kids or family exposed to the crime organizations and activities that bring Fentanyl and other drugs into our communities.

It’s only politicians who make support for law enforcement seem controversial. They put politics ahead of the people they are supposed to represent.
Keeping IL6 Safe

Keeping our streets safe requires working with law enforcement at the local and federal levels. This is the approach we’ve taken in Orland Park. As a result, we’ve gotten drugs and criminals off the street.

My opponent, Sean Casten voted against a bipartisan measure to extend a federal ban on the illegal sale of fentanyl. Had the vote gone his way, it would have been substantially harder for federal law enforcement to prosecute drug dealers. Protecting criminals has become a calling card for politicians like Sean Casten and his party - whether they’re in Cook County or Congress.

The impact has been devastating. According to WBEZ, Cook County had a record number of fatal fentanyl overdoses in 2021. And the DuPage County Coroner's office has reported that deaths from drug overdoses continue to rise.

I’ve had enough of it. That’s why I am running. I brought common sense leadership to Orland Park and I am going to Congress to do the same, and I am so grateful to have your support in this effort!

Thank you,

Keith Pekau
Mayor of Orland Park
Republican Nominee for Illinois’ Sixth Congressional District

Pekau: 'Real leaders don't stand by while crime is on the rise and our kids are at risk'

Mayor Keith Pekau of Orland Park announced that Cook County will allocate $2.6 million to address the opioid epidemic. The problem of opioid addiction has become increasingly worse over the last few years.

"Opioid overdoses in Cook County have spiked over the last few years," Pekau said. "From 2018 to 2020, there were 4,283 opioid-related deaths in Cook County with nearly 82 percent of those deaths from June 6 through December 23, 2020 showing the presence of fentanyl in their systems. In 2021, opioid-related deaths surpassed 1,900 cases, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. In Orland Park, our police department has been doing their part to curb this epidemic. We have seen drug-related arrests increase 25% over the past 5 years and implemented the Mobile Response Unit. Real leaders don’t stand by while crime is on the rise and our kids are at risk. I took it on as Mayor. I am going to Congress to do the same."

Pekau: ‘If we don't like the way things are tracking, then we change the rules’

Pekau, who is the mayor of Orland Park, noted inflation is not being properly tracked. He is running in Illinois’ 6th Congressional District.

"This seems to be the standard playbook: If we don't like the way things are tracking, then we change the rules,” Pekau said on Newsmax ([link removed]) . “Look at how we've changed the way inflation is tracked. We don't include gasoline or food prices, which is what hits people in the pocketbook the most. If you included those things, we'd have inflation at 17 or 18% right now. So at the end of the day, everyone on this call, as well as everyone that's watching knows what is happening in America, knows that we're facing a recession and that we've been seeing inflation that – essentially, at the rate it's at – takes one month of your pay."

During his term as mayor, Pekau has doubled investments in the village's infrastructure while managing to reduce total operating costs by 14%, according to his website. Pekau also lowered property tax rates and paid down more than $50 million of the village's debt.

From Keith: Sean Casten called inflation "a good thing," and has voted with Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden to raise costs on families. Does he really represent us? I don't think so.

He doesn’t get it. Last year, Rep. Sean Casten told voters ([link removed]) " the inflation we are seeing in the economy right now is passing, transitory, and manageable." Got it? Settle down. Don’t believe your eyes. Nevermind your household finances. Sean Casten says this is “manageable.”

Unlike Rep Casten, I wasn’t born with a silver-spoon in my mouth. Nor have I spent half my adult life in Washington DC. I feel the pain most families are feeling thanks to the failed policies of Joe Biden and Sean Casten. I am going to Congress to restore common sense and protect you from scams that Sean Casten out of touch DC bureaucrats are running on your life.

Get Involved

Politicians in Washington, DC like Sean Casten, and Nancy Pelosi have put special interests, party politics, and extreme agendas ahead of doing what’s best for the people they’re supposed to represent.

Keith Pekau is the common sense, local leader we need in Washington to take on the extreme politicians. His record of results stands in stark contrast to the failed, divisive politics and rigid ideology of Sean Casten.

Whether you choose to contribute, knock on doors, or host a yard sign on your front lawn, every little bit counts and helps my campaign inch closer to victory.
