Team,
Today – along with attorneys general all over the country – I filed my opposition in court to Ron DeSantis’ discriminatory “Don’t Say Gay” law.
Make no mistake: This law is an attempt to stigmatize, silence, and erase LGBTQ+ students from Florida’s public schools. It’s against the law, it’s disgusting, and it’s absolutely unacceptable.
Here in California, we’re not going to ignore discrimination and attacks on the LGBTQ+ community – because kids deserve better. It’s why we’ve worked to foster inclusivity in schools rather than censoring instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity.
I believe that we must protect LGBTQ+ kids and teachers from discrimination and ensure that all feel safe in the classroom. If you’re with me, add your name right now.
Our schools are critical places of learning for our children, and not just from books. When schools don’t provide inclusive learning environments, we see worse outcomes for kids’ health and more bias.
That’s bad for our kids, and it’s bad for our communities. Ron DeSantis’ bigoted attacks on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans kids will lead to more harm for our children, in Florida and elsewhere.
We must ensure the rights and dignities of all of our children – and we absolutely must put a stop to DeSantis’s discriminatory law. Add your name if you agree.
Thank you,
Rob Bonta
