While my great grandparents were killed by Nazis in concentration camps during World War II, my grandfather was able to escape. He was given an opportunity to build a new life in America, and his story helped shape who I am today. My family history reminds me every day that failing to stand up for what is right has grave consequences.

That’s why I was taken aback when I saw Nazis waving flags emblazoned with the swastika and "DeSantis Country" parading outside a Tampa political event that featured Ron DeSantis.

xxxxxx, that was 12 days ago and Ron DeSantis and Ashley Moody have been noticeably silent. Perhaps they thought if they ignored it, nobody would notice.

Well, people noticed.

Why won't Ron DeSantis condemn the Nazis who support him? He wants to cultivate their support and not just for his own reelection this fall, but for the presidential run he's clearly preparing for. Meanwhile, his personal attorney general, Ashley Moody, refuses to deviate from the DeSantis line — even when it comes to Nazis.

Condemning Nazis should be a softball for any politician — with a conscience. For us to have to demand they condemn Nazis says a lot about them as supposed leaders, let alone human beings.

Let’s show them that they simply can’t ignore this, because we won’t let them.
