Dear MoveOn member,
On Tuesday, voters in ultra-Republican Kansas turned out in droves and resoundingly defeated a constitutional amendment that would have allowed the state to ban abortion.1 It's the first vote on abortion since the Supreme Court struck down Roe, and it's a huge deal—for women, girls, and nonbinary and trans people in Kansas and in neighboring states. And, for all of us, it should be a beacon of hope.
Here's why:
Kansas is one of the most conservative states in the country. Donald Trump won the state by 15 points in 2020, and yet, the anti-abortion ballot measure was defeated by an enormous 18-point margin.2,3 That's huge. This attack on abortion rights lost in every congressional district in the state. Even in the most conservative districts in rural Kansas, people of all political stripes turned out to support abortion.4
And, crucially, turnout for the election—which was expected to see relatively low turnout—went through the roof, matching levels not seen in the state since the 2008 presidential election.5
Do you know what that means? We can turn the 2022 midterms into a referendum on abortion rights, and we can win.
We want to get the message out that this fall we are going to Roe the Vote, and make sure all across the country there's a public, visible movement to ensure the fight over abortion access is front-and-center for voters, which is why MoveOn has just printed a big batch of these stickers and is giving them away for free, while supplies last.

John, the GOP thought they could get away with stripping away our bodily autonomy without facing any consequences. Last night's election results proved them wrong.
Republican candidates across the country are shaking in their boots, and we need to keep up the work to make sure they feel the true power of our movement come November.
MoveOn is investing $30 million, the most for a midterm election in our 23-year history, to defeat the candidates who cheered when Roe v. Wade was overturned and who have gleefully supported the passage of laws that put the lives of all pregnant people in danger.
The candidates who wanted to force a 10-year-old rape victim to give birth.
The candidates who would rather that pregnant people die than receive abortions.
And the candidates who want to use the same extremist Supreme Court that overturned Roe to invalidate same-sex marriage and interracial marriage, access to contraception, and our ability to have consensual relationships with the people we love.
Kansas voters just told them what will happen if they try, and we need voters across the country to do the same this November.
Thanks for all you do.
