Microplastics have been found on mountaintops and as far away as the Arctic. Will you donate to help support our Wildlife Over Waste campaign, and all our work to defend the environment? DONATE:

Friend,
We know that plastics are contaminating our rivers and oceans and harming wildlife -- and now we've discovered that they're filling our air as well.
Scientists have found high amounts of microplastics raining down everywhere, from the pristine areas of the Pyrenees mountains to remote areas of the Arctic.[1]
The planet is being covered in plastics. We need to ban and replace the worst single-use plastics now.
Environment Colorado launched our Wildlife Over Waste campaign to replace the worst single-use plastics across the country. Will you make a donation to help jump-start all of our work to protect the environment?
Yes, I'll make a donation to protect our environment.

People throw out more than 8 million tons of plastic every year, much of it single-use, such as utensils, bags, and polystyrene containers.[2]
These plastics flood our waterways, killing marine life. Plastics have been found in 86 percent of all sea turtle species, and whales have washed ashore with pounds of plastics in their stomachs.[3]
Other plastics end up in the atmosphere, finding their way to areas that are hundreds of miles from where they originated. A recent study found just as much plastic in the air over an untouched area of the Pyrenees mountains as there is over major cities.[4]
Plastics never disappear. They kill animals, pollute our waterways and clog landfills. We're facing a plastics emergency, and we need to urge state lawmakers to ban single-use plastics.
We know that we can win on this. Plastic bag bans are passing all across the nation with the help of our national network: In California, Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont and Oregon. Our national network also helped pass polystyrene foam bans in Maine and Maryland.
We're still working to save the bees and protect our national forests, but right now, we need to stop single-use plastics from destroying our environment.
Will you donate to help support our Wildlife Over Waste campaign, and all our work to defend the environment?
