A chance to earn your stripes for tigers!

A tiger’s stripes are as unique as human fingerprints and EIA is now inviting citizen scientists and photographers to help us create an innovative new artificial intelligence tool to help crack down on the illegal tiger trade. The Tiger Stripes Project seeks to build a huge image database of tiger stripe patterns to contribute to law enforcement efforts. The project is being undertaken in partnership with the Alan Turing Institute, a leading UK centre for data science and artificial intelligence.

Ban on whaling is just as important today

On 23 July, the International Whaling Commission marked 40 years of the global commercial whaling ban. EIA is proud of its long history working with the IWC to shore up the ban and delighted that our three founders were on hand to help celebrate it.

Suspect trafficker seized

Malaysian Teo Boon Ching, believed to be a key player in illegal wildlife trade, has been arrested in Thailand. In our 2018 report Exposing the Hydra, we revealed his role as a specialist transporter for syndicates trafficking between Africa and Asia.
