Support our work to make innovative change in the states.

Dear John,

When thinking about creating better legislation for families who give and receive care, it’s tempting to focus entirely on what’s happening in Washington, DC. But often the most important work happens in our own states.

Our state-based work is where we can make a big impact on real people’s lives and has the potential to influence national legislation in a huge way.

Caring Across is working to expand access to care in states around the country. Will you help us support this work by making a contribution today?

State budgets can include things like better pay for direct care workers or funding for older adults and people with disabilities to access Home and Community-Based Services without waiting for action from Congress.

Our state-based work is moving on several tracks simultaneously:

  • In California, we’re just released a groundbreaking report on the state of care in California and are getting ready to launch our CA Care Can’t Wait campaign with local partners on the ground to win more accessible paid leave, child care, and home and community-based services.
  • In Michigan, we’re working to build out the Michigan Caring Majority and win a public Long-Term Services and Support benefit for the state by bringing together disability, aging, and multi-issue organizations.
  • In Georgia, we’re excited to host a care roundtable in the Fall with child care, paid leave, and disability partners and are moving to create a care-focused voter education push in the upcoming election to make sure care is a key issue.
  • In Illinois, we’re building relationships to launch our Care Can’t Wait in the States campaign to create new supports for all who need care.

And, in California, Georgia, and Illinois, state-based cohorts of Care Fellows are already organizing to build power in their own states.

Our state-based work is primed to have a big impact on people’s lives and on our care systems around the country. With your support, we can deepen this work and expand it to help more people. Will you make a contribution today?

With care,
