Hi John,

Trump was elected in 2016 on a promise that he would protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. But right now, the president is threatening to make drastic cuts to these critical programs if he wins a second term.

Trump has blown up our country’s budget by $1 trillion this year alone and $3 trillion since he took office. And since his tax code overhaul isn’t collecting enough revenue from corporations to balance our spending, he needs to fix the deficit. So his latest budget proposal includes $1.5 trillion in cuts to federal Medicaid spending over the next decade, and it’s likely that slashes to Medicare and Social Security will follow.

Right now, Trump is going back on his word and jeopardizing these social safety nets that support everyday Americans, young and old. Our budgets should reflect our country’s values, and leaving our neighbors in the dust is absolutely not an American value.

That’s why I’m calling on my colleagues in Congress to block these cuts and put people first -- but in order to send a strong message to Trump that we’re not giving up on our seniors, I’m going to need your help.

We need 10,000 signatures to tell Congress to hold Trump to his campaign promises and protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Will you add your name with mine today to hold this administration accountable for supporting our seniors and low-income neighbors? ([link removed])

Thank you for being an advocate for our nation’s most vulnerable.

-Mary Gay
