California is on the cusp of a historic opportunity, friend.

We are SO close to passing SB 260, the Climate Corporate Accountability Act.

We can’t have a serious conversation about reducing carbon emissions without addressing the corporate sector’s contribution to pollution when just 100 energy companies are responsible for 71% of global industrial emissions.

We cannot rely on corporations to voluntarily report their emissions data to the public – that’s not happening now and that’s why we must make SB 260 law.

SB 260 is our chance to put California at the forefront of game-changing climate leadership by putting into law the nation’s first mandatory corporate emissions disclosure requirement for the largest and most profitable corporations.

The State Senate has already passed SB 260, so now it’s up to the Assembly. That’s why I’m writing to you today to ask if you can call your Assemblymember and urge them to support SB 260.

Individual action to reduce our own carbon footprint is important, but in order to address the climate crisis at the scale and pace to save our future, we need the biggest corporate polluters to be part of the solution. 

The public deserves access to information about how much large corporations are contributing to the climate crisis.

Some large corporations advertise themselves as sustainable, making claims of net-zero goals or other company-wide emissions reduction goals, but there is no real way for the public to know whether those corporations are actually making progress or meeting those goals or any way for the public to hold them accountable.

No way currently.

Passing SB 260 would change that. By closing that critical information gap, SB 260 is a bill for accountability and transparency, two things we desperately need more of to win this fight.

Please, can I count on you to call your Assemblymember and make sure they are for SB 260?
