Following up on Ami’s email from yesterday.
The Respect for Marriage Act was passed by the Democratic House because Republicans have made it clear that if they don’t like a law, they’ll fight to take it away regardless of what is constitutionally protected.
In the aftermath of Roe, they’re coming after marriage equality, contraceptives, and more. That’s why acting right now to protect these rights is critical. We need 5,000 more signatures on our joint petition this week to share the results. Will you sign on immediately?

Hey John,
Last month, the Democratic House passed the Respect for Marriage Act. This bill codifies marriage equality into federal law and provides legal protections to all couples after Justice Thomas’ threats to this Supreme Court ruling in his recent opinion on Dobbs.
The fact is the Republican-stacked Supreme Court is coming for our rights— reproductive rights, marriage equality, contraception, and then who knows what will come after that.
These rights are not things politicians or judges should be able to control.
We must keep up the fight to uphold our rights—but it’ll take an upswell to stop extreme politicians from telling Americans who they can or can’t love.
That’s why we’re asking you to sign this joint petition this week to take a stand for marriage equality. Please sign on ASAP to have your response included in our final tally so we can show our support on this issue→
Thank you,
Ami Bera
