You may have heard about Music Midtown being canceled this year. Our annual music festival is not happening, and it’s all because The Shotgun Governor – Brian Kemp – would rather play with his guns in TV ads than take his job as governor seriously.
That’s right, the 2022 Music Midtown festival is canceled because of Georgia’s atrocious gun laws. And Gov. Kemp is trying to loosen our laws even more! Apparently he wants to turn Georgia into the wild west.
Georgia Republicans like to claim that they’re pro-jobs and in favor of attracting as much business as possible to the state. But let’s look at their record:
LAST YEAR: Republicans chased away Major League Baseball’s All-Star game by enacting backwards voting restrictions that even large corporations said were unfair and un-American.
THIS YEAR: A large contingent of Republicans opposed the construction of a new Rivian electric vehicle plant in Georgia that will bring thousands of good-paying jobs to the state.
AND NOW: Republicans’ absurdly permissive gun laws have made Atlanta’s Music Midtown festival impossible because event organizers would not be able to prevent people from bringing in firearms.
