Breaking news, team: A federal judge in New York ruled against DACA applicants, denying a request to process pending initial DACA applications and leaving tens of thousands of immigrant youth in limbo.
Although this decision does not impact current DACA recipients and renewals continue to be accepted, we’re disappointed by it. Our position has only been strengthened: DACA was never enough and remains under imminent threat.

One year after a federal judge struck down the DACA program — blocking the government from approving new requests, but protecting current program recipients — last night’s ruling left tens of thousands of immigrant youth without relief or recourse.
The New York judge ruled against granting any relief to the 80,000 pending first-time DACA applicants or one-year lapsed renewals.
And the attacks won’t end here. With the courts targeting DACA and immigrant youth, President Biden has failed time and time again to be bold in protecting our communities.
This decision only highlights the precariousness of DACA and the urgency for Congress to pass permanent protections for immigrant youth, our families and communities before it is too late.
