Back in June, President Joe Biden signed the first major gun safety legislation in 30 years.

This legislation keeps convicted domestic abusers from being able to purchase firearms, closing the so-called boyfriend loophole. It also allows for groups to petition courts to remove firearms from someone deemed a threat to themselves or others – popularly known as a red-flag law.

But as President Biden said before signing the bill:

“This bill doesn’t do everything I want, [but] it does include actions I’ve long called for that are going to save lives.”
