There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you for a long time.

I don’t know how to say it — so I’m just going to blurt it out.

I’m a vegan.

I choose this lifestyle because I care about animals and the the environment, and frankly, it just makes me happy. My personal dietary choices are for me and me only.

If you love burgers or pizza, I wish you nothing but joy. All of my friends eat meat, and I’m in no place to judge someone else!

Look, I know there are lots of “vegan jokes” out there — but I’m proud to be vegan. I promise never to compromise who I am for politics.

We need more politicians like that in D.C., John Too often, our elected officials try to hide parts of themselves in order to get elected. Well, I’m not hiding anything.
