John,
As we get ready to pivot to the General Election next week, I wanted to make sure you were up to speed on the latest. I know summer can get busy, but over the past several weeks, Minnesota Republicans have been showing us exactly what’s at stake this November. Here’s a recap:
- A video surfaced showing Matt Birk, GOP candidate for Lt. Governor, making disparaging comments about women and survivors of sexual assault.
- Scott Jensen, GOP candidate for Governor, said that he “would try to ban abortion” outright as governor with no exceptions for rape or incest.
- Doug Wardlow, GOP candidate for MN Attorney General, pledged to “wage war” against Doe v. Gomez – the 1995 MN Supreme Court decision that guarantees the right to a safe and legal abortion in Minnesota.
- Kim Crockett, GOP candidate for Secretary of State, came under fire for running a blatantly anti-Semitic campaign and was exposed as being a part of a national right-wing network focused on recruiting an army of activists to become poll workers.
John, make no mistake: Up and down the ballot, we are facing a Republican Party that is actively trying to undermine our democracy, systematically attacking science, spreading conspiracy theories, engaging in an all-out assault on reproductive freedom, and so much more.
They want nothing more than to take us back to the hateful, divisive politics of Donald Trump, and I’ll be blunt: They will succeed if we don’t stop them. With less than 100 days to go to Election Day, our entire team is working around the clock to hold the line, but we can’t keep it up without your support.
Every single dollar we raise keeps our paid media funded, helps us hire more organizers, open more offices, recruit and train more volunteers, and reach more voters with direct, person-to-person contact. Can you pitch in today to help us keep up our critical work?
