Last week both Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak pledged their support for fracking.
Dear John
Last week both Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak pledged their support for fracking. Even though it was stopped in England following a series of earthquakes in 2019.
That means there’s a real possibility that our next prime minister could scrap the ban and bring back fracking. Unless we speak up.
Fracking has failed as an industry. Trying to bring it back from the dead is dangerous and short-sighted. Fracking won't meaningfully lower our energy bills. But it will worsen the climate emergency.
So please sign our petition to tell the next prime minister: don’t lift the ban on fracking in England.

New fossil fuel extraction will never be a fix for the energy crisis.
It's astonishing that Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak are both supporting fracking. How can any potential prime minister back a practice that wrecks our climate? Especially against the backdrop of the recent record-breaking heatwave.
But we’re not powerless. The next prime minister must prioritise affordable renewable energy. And insulation for the homes that need it most. Now we have an opportunity to ask them to think again.
Alongside local communities and thousands of you, we have spent years campaigning against fracking. Securing the 2019 ban was an incredible win. One of the most inspiring moments in our 50-year history of grassroots campaigning.
And it was a victory for local communities. People across the country campaigned together tirelessly. Because they didn’t want fracking on their doorsteps.
Both candidates claim their support for fracking depends on local communities backing it too. But local communities said “no” to fracking then. And they say “no” now.
So let's tell our next prime minister: don’t lift the ban on fracking.
I'LL SIGN THE PETITION ([link removed])
Thank you so much for everything you do.
All the best,
Jamie Peters
