The people of Kansas have spoken: people have the right to safe, accessible abortion care.
In the first statewide vote on reproductive rights since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, voters overwhelmingly rejected a proposed amendment to the state’s constitution that would have outright rejected the right to abortion in Kansas.
Kansas is just the beginning. As we approach the 2022 midterm elections, the right to choose will be a crucial battleground on which Democrats must deliver. Because politicians should never have the power to deny a person’s bodily autonomy.
I will continue to use my platform as an elected official to protect a person’s right to choose. If you're with me and my Democratic colleagues, tell Congress to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law and protect reproductive rights.
