Governor Murphy and Stacey Abrams are joining together to make sure every voice can be heard.
This week Governor Phil Murphy and the Democratic Governors Association, in partnership with the voting rights group Fair Fight, founded by Stacey Abrams, launched Every State, Every Vote [[link removed]] . This new initiative will unite state efforts around voter protection, improving voting access, redistricting, and the 2020 census.
As DGA Chair, Governor Murphy is pursuing this initiative to give Democratic Governors more power to be strong checks on Republican efforts to suppress the right to vote. And, Governor Murphy emphasized the importance of Governors working together to advocate for a progressive agenda that expands voting rights by combating voter suppression, lowering barriers to voting, and fighting partisan gerrymandering.
The DGA is launching Every State, Every Vote because this country is in the middle of an all-out war on voting rights and fair representation. Each battle will be won or lost in the governor’s office. By bringing every Democratic Governor together around a coordinated mission to protect voting rights, Every State, Every Vote will be a powerful tool to make sure every voice is heard and every vote counts.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Founder of Fair Fight Stacey Abrams will lead the program, which focuses on the attacks Republicans are waging on our democracy and the critical role Democratic governors and Democratic candidates play in pushing back.
At NJDSC, we are looking forward to supporting Governor Murphy and the DGA’s efforts to build a stronger, fairer democracy where every voice is heard and every vote is counted.
