NBC News: Senate passes veterans health bill after Republicans cave in to pressure
|
John,
Nearly 800,000 Pennsylvanians have bravely served in the military – the fourth largest veteran population in the country. Our veterans are heroes, but right now, Republicans are treating them as bargaining chips.
After initially blocking this crucial legislation, Senate Republicans backed down and the Senate passed the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act (PACT Act), which includes Matt’s Camp Lejeune Justice Act, yesterday. This is a crucial piece of legislation that will provide critical health care and benefits to the men and women who have served our country and right past wrongs.
Our veterans put their lives on the line to defend our country and many of them were exposed to toxins. But Republicans only voted to provide them with the care they need when they return home after facing backlash for their shameful blocking of the PACT Act.
Matt will always work to ensure that all of our returning men and women of the armed forces are shown respect and given the services they need. That's why he was proud to support and help pass the PACT Act in the House.
If you agree we need to provide veterans with the care they need, add your name to stand with Matt >>
Thanks,
Team Cartwright
