Citizens' Climate at COP25 in Madrid

Several CCL staff members and volunteers are attending the international
climate conference in Madrid, COP25. Our delegation has been posting
Facebook Live videos from the conference. On Day 1

, CCL's Global Strategy Director Joe Robertson gave a breakdown of
exactly what's happening during COP25. "It's important that we reach
consensus, because this is a global problem. Every country needs to be
part of the solution," he says. "These countries are all going to have
to increase their national commitments to the global climate response."

Citizens' Climate is working to infuse our own goals into the COP
process. Joe explains, "We believe there should be more public
participation. We believe that there should be carbon pricing done
responsibly, in a way that builds economies and makes sure we're
reducing emissions in a healthy way. And we believe that there should be
climate-smart finance—the world's financial institutions should be
investing in good climate outcomes."

This year, Joe explains, we're also focusing on climate change's impacts
on the whole watershed, from mountain glaciers to farmland runoff all
the way to the ocean. "If we can integrate that entire landscape of
value, we can start to think about better ways to invest upstream to get
good outcomes downstream."

Engagement Network Facebook page.

Grasstops: Engaging school boards on Twitter

Through his Schools for Climate Action initiative, Park Guthrie (shown
above with daughter Lola) has generated more than 60 school board
resolutions. Last year, he discovered that Twitter can be a useful tool
for engagement. When the Colorado Association of School Boards held
their annual convention, he found their hashtag for the convention and
replied to tweets from attendees, establishing connections that led to
the association passing a climate resolution this past October. Read
