LANSING ? Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Jacob Cunningham maintained a temporary restraining order against 13 prosecutors?that prohibits them from enforcing Michigan?s 1931 statute criminalizing abortion, Attorney General Dana Nessel announced this afternoon.??

The Michigan Department of Attorney General filed a motion for a temporary restraining order on Monday after the Michigan Court of Appeals issued a ruling that Michigan?s local county prosecutors are not bound by an injunction issued by Judge Elizabeth Gleicher in May.??

Judge Cunningham recognized the need for the?order and noted, ?The court finds it is absolutely appropriate, given the nature of this request, and the court is continuing the restraining order.???

?Michigan women deserve certainty, and my department will continue to pursue all legal options to ensure reproductive healthcare remains available in our state,? said Nessel. ???

A hearing on preliminary injunction is scheduled for August 17.??
