Yesterday, the people of Kansas overwhelmingly chose to reject the GOP's extreme agenda and affirm reproductive rights in their state constitution. Through the hard work of an enormous movement led by fearless organizers, volunteers, and activists, a dangerous anti-abortion amendment was defeated in a landslide.
The overturning of Roe v. Wade was devastating for our country, but last night is just more proof the fight is NOT over. Kansans made clear they don’t want the government intruding on their personal medical decisions, and I have no doubt the rest of the country is ready to do the same. The results in a conservative state like Kansas show that voters across the country are energized and ready to fight back to protect their health and rights at the ballot box.
Johh, our reproductive freedom is in clear danger, and even though 80% of Americans believe abortion should be legal, anti-choice politicans will use any tactic possible to control people's bodies.
There's a lot at stake this November, but one of the most important aspects of the coming election is that it will be key in deciding where abortion rights go from here. Now more than ever, I am ready and excited to continue defending the pro-choice House majority and working to protect our rights.
