Both inflation and climate change are issues that no matter who you are, or where you come from, they can majorly affect your life.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Adam Schiff for Congress

John,

Late last week, Senators Joe Manchin and Chuck Schumer finally came to an agreement on landmark legislation to make major investments to fight climate change, combat inflation, and lower the cost of prescription drugs.

I can’t tell you how big this is. Is it everything we want? No. But could it be the biggest investment in our nation’s history to fight climate change and create green jobs? Oh, you betcha. And after this, we’ll have more work to do.

But listen, we need to get this legislation through the House and Senate and to President Biden’s desk for his signature. ASAP.

Right now, we’re experiencing record-breaking hot temperatures due to global warming and rising costs due to Putin’s war of aggression in Ukraine and the pandemic’s continued effects on global supply chains.

But this is the legislation that the American people, and indeed the world, have been waiting for — to show that the United States is once again leading the effort to save the planet. You donated. Knocked on doors. Made phone calls. Sent texts. Drove friends and family to the polls — or helped them fill out their absentee ballots at kitchen tables.

To confront climate change. To take on Big Pharma and lower drug costs. And to make all big corporations finally pay their fair share — with a corporate minimum tax, costs on fossil fuel emissions, and no tax increases for small businesses or anyone earning less than $400,000.

I’m determined to push for this legislation, and much more, so that working families across the country can live without worrying about inflating prices or what planet they’ll be leaving behind for their kids.

The Inflation Reduction Act would invest $370 billion in clean energy, cap prescription drug prices, and institute a corporate minimum tax.

So let’s go. Working families can’t wait any longer. Our environment can’t wait any longer. And I think we all fear if we wait any longer, this deal might get scuttled.

Add your name to join me in urging Senate Democrats to pass the Inflation Reduction Act through reconciliation before the end of this week and the start of the August recess.

This is exciting news — now let’s see it through to the end.

Thank you for stepping up to speak out about this crucial legislation.
