Tell Congress:
"Drug prices are outrageous―making many U.S. families choose between putting food on the table and paying for lifesaving prescription drugs. Pass the Lower Drug Costs Now Act (HR 3) to lower drug prices for millions of Americans and save Medicare hundreds of billions of dollars."

John,
Democrats ran on a promise to lower prescription drug prices and protect the American people from Big Pharma’s runaway greed. And this week, we may finally get a vote in the U.S. House.
Last night, Speaker Nancy Pelosi agreed to important progressive demands, increasing the minimum number of drugs subject to negotiation under the bill from 35 to 50 and restoring an amendment by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, which would extend protections against drug price spikes to people on employer-sponsored health insurance plans, not just those on Medicare.
Those are significant changes and a critical step toward holding greedy pharmaceutical corporations accountable to the American people.
And HR 3 uses the savings to Medicare from lower drug prices to improve Medicare, adding dental, vision and hearing benefits!
Right now, under current law, hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicare are going directly into the pockets of greedy pharmaceutical corporations. And the high cost of prescription drugs is eating into our Social Security benefits. It’s past time to do something about it!
Sign the petition to Congress to pass the Lower Drug Costs Now Act (HR 3) to begin reining in Big Pharma’s greed and profits on the backs of the American people. No more profits over patient health!
Social Security Works has been fighting behind the scenes to make this bill as strong as possible and we’re going to keep fighting for it all the way until it becomes law.
This week’s agreement between Speaker Pelosi and our champions in Congress is a testament to your hard work―demanding House Democrats take a bold stand on behalf of the American people.
Add your name! Tell Congress to pass this critical legislation, which is now even stronger, thanks to you. Together, we’re reining in skyrocketing drug prices and saving Medicare billions of dollars.
For months, we’ve been fighting to get pharma friendly provisions out of NAFTA 2.0. Yesterday, House Democrats announced that the revised trade deal does just that, removing a requirement that would have required signatory countries to give pharma corporations a 10 year monopoly on biologic drugs.
Pharma lobbyists are livid about their loss on trade, and they’ll only get more upset when the Lower Drug Costs Now Act passes the House.
This week’s events are only the beginning. Voters overwhelmingly support bold action to lower drug prices, and political leaders are listening. Nearly every major candidate in the Democratic primary, including Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Pete Buttigieg, has bold plans to curb pharma’s government granted patent monopolies.
Health care should not be for sale. And the health of our people must not be held hostage to the profit-hungry pharmaceutical industry.
Sign now: Tell Congress to pass HR 3 to reduce prescription drug prices!
This critical legislation would take financial pressure off older Americans and working families across the country―families who are currently being ripped off by Big Pharma. After all, what is the point of life-saving medicine, if no one can afford it?
Thank you for your support,
Alex Lawson Social Security Works
