Dear friend, it pains me to say that we lost our primary election.
However, not all is lost. I am so proud and grateful of the movement we’ve built. We stayed true to our progressive values and our grassroots energy. Together, we’ve created a force to be reckoned with.
While I was not successful I’m so incredibly proud of my sisters Alma and Consuelo who have won seats in the Arizona State House. They will be amazing legislators and I look forward to seeing them serve our community.
I also look forward to working with Democrat Kirsten Engel to keep AZ-06 blue for years to come. I remain committed as always to the progressive cause and supporting Arizona my entire career.
So listen, I am truly grateful to have had your support in my campaign. Every donor, volunteer, and supporter helped propel my campaign forward. I encourage you to keep supporting Democratic and progressive causes – we must keep fighting.

Daniel Hernandez is Mexican-American, gay, and a first-generation college graduate — and now he's running for Congress to strengthen our progressive power. He is currently a state representative, is a former school board president, and is a lifelong Arizonan.
As a first-generation college student, Daniel interned for then-Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and was there on the day of the tragic attack on her life which resulted in 6 deaths and 13 people injured. Daniel was the first to administer first aid to the Congresswoman before the EMTs arrived and was named a national hero by President Obama.
