John,
The Inflation Reduction Act will make corporations that are price-gouging the American people pay a fairer share of taxes so we can fight climate change, lower prescription drug costs, and keep healthcare affordable for millions of Americans. Not a single Republican is expected to vote for this legislation, even though it’s fully paid for by making billion-dollar corporations pay a 15% minimum tax rate, and by beefing up the IRS so it can catch rich and corporate tax cheats who are evading paying what they owe in taxes.
Republicans are more than happy to allow Big Oil and Big Pharma to continue price gouging the American people instead of voting to lower out-of-pocket energy and healthcare costs for working people and seniors.
Write to your senators and representative and demand they pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which is fully paid for by making billion-dollar corporations start paying their fair share. The Senate will vote on this critical legislation late this week!
Check out Frank’s email below for more details on how this legislation―which we’ve been fighting for for over a year―cracks down on tax dodging by corporations and the wealthy to make essentials more affordable for working families.
Thank you,

John,
Senate Democrats have put forward the Inflation Reduction Act, which will be voted on later this week, that will fight climate change and lower healthcare and household energy costs for working families. It’s fully paid for by taking on Big Pharma and making billion-dollar corporations and rich tax cheats pay a fairer share in taxes.[1]
Not one Republican in Congress is likely to support this sensible plan benefiting working people and small businesses.
Congressional Republicans do not support giving Medicare the ability to negotiate prescription drug costs; they want to protect the high profits drug corporations get from price gouging seniors.
Virtually all Republicans in Congress oppose the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which helps families afford health insurance. They do not want to help 13 million people keep their health insurance through the ACA.
Republicans deny we have a climate crisis. They oppose shifting to a clean energy economy based on renewable energy like wind and solar. Instead, they want to protect the huge profits that Exxon, Chevron and other Big Oil corporations are making from price gouging consumers.
Republicans always oppose raising taxes on big corporations and the wealthy, like the Inflation Reduction Act will do.
Write to your senators and representative today, and urge them to pass this common sense bill that lowers out-of-pocket costs for millions of Americans, fights the climate crisis, and makes greedy, tax dodging corporations and the wealthy pay a fairer share of taxes.
The Inflation Reduction Act will make billion-dollar corporations pay a minimum 15% corporate tax on the profits they report to their shareholders. That means giant corporations like Amazon, Nike, and FedEx will no longer get away with paying $0 or little in federal income taxes.
It will also modernize the IRS so it serves taxpayers better and enables it to better catch rich and corporate tax cheats who evade paying what they owe in taxes.
Corporations have been caught bragging about their record profits at shareholder meetings. They’re raking in record profits by price-gouging the American people and avoiding their fair share in taxes. The Inflation Reduction Act will make them pay their fair share on those record profits.
This includes reining in Big Pharma, which charges the American people more than twice what consumers pay for prescription drugs in other countries,[2] because this legislation will finally allow Medicare to negotiate prices for some costly drugs, penalize drug corporations that raise prices faster than the rate of inflation, and cap Medicare recipients’ out-of-pocket prescription drug costs at $2,000 a year.
Write to your members of Congress right now and urge them to pass the Inflation Reduction Act to lower costs for working people and older Americans.
While this package is not all that we’ve been fighting for, it takes a huge step toward a future that includes all of us. And, importantly, makes large profitable corporations start paying more of their fair share!
