The centerpiece of the Health Affairs Journal Club meeting in August is, "Alcohol-Attributable Deaths Help Drive Growing Socioeconomic Inequalities In US Life Expectancy," which examines changes in US life expectancy between 2000 and 2018 attributable to alcohol.

The authors find substantial disparities in alcohol-related deaths, including from liver disease and cirrhosis, suicide, and motor vehicle accidents, between individuals with and without college degrees.

On August 17, please join co-author Charlotte Probst of the University of Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, for a detailed discussion of the paper’s data, methods, and policy conclusions.

Health Affairs Senior Editor Michael S. Gerber will host.
