In the Media: A Call to Stop Crowdfunding for Unproven Treatments

More than $650 million annually is raised for medical needs on the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, with over 1,000 campaigns for unproven and potentially dangerous interventions. The Verge discusses an article in the latest issue of the Hastings Center Report that calls for GoFundMe and other crowdfunding platforms to restrict campaigns for unproven medical treatments more widely and as soon as possible given the ongoing and growing harms of inaction. Deadline Approaching: Nominate a Physician for Outstanding Care

The Hastings Center Cunniff-Dixon Physician Awards recognize physicians in the United States who have demonstrated exemplary care of patients near the end of life. There are five prizes: one $25,000 for a senior physician, one prize of $25,000 for a mid-career physician, and three prizes of $15,000 each for early-career physicians.
