John, I write with a simple request: Please follow me on Twitter if you have an account. Today I sent out this simple tweet and it ended up going viral: By using humor, facts and undermining an important Republican lie blaming Biden for gas prices--coming down every day for 2 months straight and high around the world due to Russia's genocidal war in Ukraine and resulting sanctions--I was able to accomplish a number of things on Twitter. I attracted the attention of numerous high profile journalists to influence how Americans think, educated those not as politically active as we are, bucked up our activists to donate, knock on doors, make calls and fight for our democracy and attacked the GOP brand as the peformative b*llshit we all know it to be. I've already seen the tweet quoted in news pieces that do summaries of Twitter activity. And that is why it's important: BECAUSE MOST POLITICAL JOURNALISTS AND PUNDITS ARE ON TWITTER Twitter is a place where we can push back, organize together, undermine their talking points, put them on the defensive with smart messaging and share Democratic accomplishments with positive messages of our own--all in front of the media, whom as I said, are almost all regularly there. On Twitter there's a constant conversation in real time, one that can often define whether we are on the winning or losing side of issues, campaigns and candidacies. So not a huge ask, just please follow me there,where at least a dozen times per day I share news, ideas, pushback and more to fight the Republican authoritarian menace. We all want to be on message and responding as quickly as possible to a fascist-embracing Republican Party in a world with minute-to-minute news cycles. We can't all do everytihng. But, Twitter is one place we can all make a difference by telling stories that impact people, sharing knowledge key for Americans to know and supporting our messages and underming those the Republican Party.
