As I listen to and speak with Hennepin County families, the message I often hear is that they just want to feel safe.

Law enforcement staffing in our county is reaching a crisis level. It’s no wonder Minneapolis murder cases are being solved at a historically low rate, just 38%, and that crime is rising in our community.

In times like these, it’s crucial that our leaders work together. State and federal law enforcement resources and resources from suburban departments must be brought to bear and coordinated with community led efforts to get crime under control.

I’m the only candidate in this race with experience bridging divides and working with other leaders and traditionally oppositional parties to make progress.

The solutions won’t be easy, but together we can do this.

I worked in the legislature this past spring to improve the quality and quantity of police recruits, working with chiefs across the state to make sure the bill provided them with the exact support they needed.

Solving the safety concerns in our community isn’t going to happen through more and better policing alone. We need people from across our community involved as well.
